A right of priority is a time-limited right, triggered by the first filing of an application for a trademark respectively. If an application has been filed in a country outside of Turkey or the products has been exposed officially, priority can be claimed. According the Turkish Law, the period of priority is 6 months for trademarks. Applicants should provide the documents for priority right with notarized translation of the original application. If priority right is claimed on the basis of exposition applicants should submit a document signifying the country, date of exposition set by authorities of the country together with its notarized translation.
The documents for the right of priority will be examine by Turkish Patent Institute examiners in consideration of the 25th, 26th, 27th and 28th articles of the Decree Law No.556.
